Every morning, around 7 am, I lit a candle for peace.
Every morning, I feed the stray cats from the neighbourhood.
Every morning at 7 the little church nearby starts ringing its different collection of bells to start the day.
What is happening to humanity?
Who has opened the gates to hell
and who keeps it open?
Are we all this wounded
still?
Or haven’t we found the right ways yet to stop wars?
Are wars the manifestations of wounded adults-littlechildren?
Just before summer, I worked on a series of paintings for an exhibition for Hermine de Groeve and Siegfried de Buck.
The title was ‘Where have the flowers gone?’ (Song by Marlene Dietrich).
The WWII symbol of the poppies appeared several times in peer exhibitor’s artworks.
The poppies which represent fragile beauty when everything else is destroyed.
I painted ‘Avatars’.
Where are the Avatars who guide us?
Where is the Avatar within us?
We ARE the Avatars.
I keep working on this series.
Kay is also still the core of my days.
She is the miniature exploration field for the paintings.
She is the core which helps me to visualise that better, healthier and in tune with nature - world.
She represents the free child.
And innocence.
It is the innocence especially which is slaughtered today.
Men, women, elderly, nature, animals, the skies, the planet
and especially children.
What does this mean, this torturing and barbaric grinding of the innocence?
I worked on Kay 1 yet again.
The previous illustrations are mixed now with my big love for medieval illuminated manuscripts.
But I still struggle to combine the ornamental language with the naturalistic input from the previous drawings.
I am aware of the fact that my days are too short to fit in all the joyful things I do.
I am aware that many people’ s days are literally shortened. Their bright every morning-daylights never to be experienced again.
It hurts.
